Docket Nos. 50-361 and 50-362 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 2 and 3 As requested, this letter provides our response for San Onofre Units 2 and 3 to IE Bulletin No. 83-03: Check Valve Failures in Raw Water Cooling Systems of Diesel Generators.
The diesel generator cooling water systems at San Onofre Units 2 and 3 have been reviewed, and it has been determined that there is no check valve in the these systems.
The diesel generator cooling water systems are corrosion inhibited closed loops which reject heat through fan cooled radiators. As these systems are not raw water cooling systems, and do not utilize check valves, IE Bulletin 83-03 is not applicable to San Onofre Units 2 and 3 and no further action related to this Bu?letin is being taken.
