The reactor was shutdown to re-pair valve and investigate cause of failure. Two seismic supports were found damaged and were also repaired.

OPERATIONS NARRATIVE Cooper Nuclear Station July 1982 The 1982 Refueling and Maintenance Outage ended on July 8 with synchron-ization of the. generator to the grid. Minor delays with torus work extended the outage beyond the scheduled startup date.
The reactor was taken critical on July 7, 1982 at 0705 hours0.00816 days <br />0.196 hours <br />0.00117 weeks <br />2.682525e-4 months <br /> to begin Cycle 8 operation. The generator was synchronized to the grid at 0121 hours0.0014 days <br />0.0336 hours <br />2.000661e-4 weeks <br />4.60405e-5 months <br />, July 8, 1982.
On July 14, 1982 at 0332 hours0.00384 days <br />0.0922 hours <br />5.489418e-4 weeks <br />1.26326e-4 months <br />, the reactor was shutdown to repair a broken feedwater heater level control valve and to investigate insta-bilities in the feedwater heating system. The valve was repaired along with two seismic supports damaged by the flow instabilities. The plant was returned to operation the next day.
