FAILURE TO FABRICATE WASTE GAS DECAY TANKS IN ACCORDANCE WITH DRAWING REQUIREMENTS

Letter, D. M. Sternberg to R. S. Leddick, dated January 17, 1983.
This letter is intended to supplement the information given to D. P.
Haist, Reactor Inspector, during the inspection performed December 13-17, 1982 regarding the subject matter (see Reference).
Discussions between the Supply System, Ebasco, Combusticn Engineering (C-E), Richmond Engineering Company (RECO) and the Supply System'e Authorized Nuclear Inspector (ANI) have been in progress since March, 1982 to establish an acceptable means for correcting the nonconforming condition.
As a result of a meeting held January 11, 1983, the following was decided:
- 1) CE will provide an ASME Section XI repair plan identifying the grinding and welding performed by RECO.
- 2) Documentation of the grinding work will be provided with the Section XI repair plan.
- 3) The Supply System will verify acceptability of the grinding work.
- 4) Rapair welding performed by REC 0 will be removed and rewelded in accordance with the requirements of the approved Section XI repair plan.
This work is expected to be completed by July, 1983.
