Docket No. 50-362 Prompt Report Licensee Event Report No.83-005 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, linit 3 Pursuant to Section 6.9.1.12.b of Appendix A, Technical Specifications to Operating License NPF-15 for San Onofre Unit 3, this submittal provides the written confirmation of our February 25, 1983 prompt notification to the NRC of a reportable occurrence involving the snubbers in two Reactor Coolant sample lines: one capable of being isolated by Containment Isolation Valve 3HV508 and the other capable of being isolated by Containment Isolation Valve 3HV517.
On February 22, 1983, while Unit 3 was in Mode 5, loose snubbers and hangers in two sampling lines of the Reactor Coolant loops were observed We have been una'le to deterine when, since the by a Station engineer.
o last surveillance (October 1982), the snubbers and hangers were loosened.
However, since the components may have been loosened prior to entry into Mode 4 on January 5,1983 and Limiting Conditions for Operation (LC0's) 3.7.6 " Snubbers" and 3.6.3 " Containment Isolation Valves", are applicable in Modes 1 through 4, the prompt notification of February 25,1983 was made.

Investigation to determine the cause, the corrective actions to be taken, and measures to prevent recurrence of this event are continuing.
Licensee Event Report (LER) No.83-005 will address this event and will be submitted by March 11, 1983.
