VIRGINIA ELECT 81C AND POWER COMPANY NORTH ANNA POWSR STATION UNIT 1 RESPONSE TO NRC GENERIC LETTER 8913 Generic Letter 8913 provided recommended actions to address various problems with service water systems which have, in the pa, led to system degradation or failure. Virginia Electric and Power Company letter dated January 29,1990 described the program that would be implemented to ensure that the servico water system at North Anna will be in compliance with appropriate regulations, specifications, and licensing basis documentation. Generic Letter 8913 also requires that licensees confirm to the NRC tnat all actions have been implemented 30 days following their implementation.
North Anna Unit 1 has just cotipleted a scheduled refueling outage. Programs to detect biofouling, perform heat exchanger testing and the development of periodic inspection and rnaintenance procedures for the service water system have been implemented. In addition, walkdowns of the service water cystem and issuance of a draft service water system design basis document have been completed.
The completion of design basis and procedure reviews associated with items IV and V of Generic Letter 8913 remain unchangcd.
