McGuire Nuclear Station Docket Nos. 50-369, -370 Suspected Used/ Refurbished Molded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCB)
Gentlemen:
Mr. Owen Shackleton, Office of Investigation, USNRC, has requested that Duke power Company provide him with a list of used or refurbished MCCBs purchased for McGuire Nuclear Station, The information is to be given to the Justice Department to be used in pending litigation.
The attached list consists of MCCB's purchased for McGuire. The supplier in all cases was WESCO, Charlotte, N.C.
Documentation exist tracing all of the MCCB's listed to MCCB Co., California.
The attached list is restricted to MCCB's suspected of being used or rafurbishs and being held in accordance with NRC Bulletin 88-10.
Comments on tne list are from visual inspections performed using NUMARC guidelines for identifying suspect breakers.
Costs listed reflect actual purchase cost, including shipping, rounded to the nearest dollar. The total costs of complying with NRC Builetin 88-10 has not been calculated but is estimated to exceed one hundred thousand dollars due to replacement cost of other non-traceable MCCBs removed from stock, and the expense of McGuire's investigations and inspections.
