Docket No. 50-219 ASME Exemption for Pre-Service Inspections on the Isolation Condenser and Reactor Water Clean-Up Systems During the upcoming 13R refueling outage, OPU Nuclear will be replacing eignificant lengths of piping on the Isolation Condenstr and Reactor Water Clean-Up eyotems.
Per the existing second ten year interval requiremente, ASME Section XI Pre-Service Inspectione (PSI) will be performed to meet the Code requiremente specified in the 1974 Edition through Summer 1975 addenda.
The third ten year interval for the In-Service Inspections le scheduled to commence in October, 1991. The program submittal, in accordance with 10CFR50.55a.(b)(1), will invoke the 1986 Edition of the ASME code, without addenda.
Inspections subsequent to that time will be required to meet 1986 Code requirements.
Therefore, to ensure baseline PSI inspectione on the Isolation condenser pipe replacement will provide data consistent with future lampections, GPUN requeste an exemption from the 1974 edition of the Code for this PSI and proposes invoking the 1986 edition of the code, approximately six monthe prior to formal submittal of the next ten year update.
An thle work will be performed early in the second quarter of 1991, review and approval by the NRC Je requested by April 15, 1991.
