Schedule for the Evaluation of Pipe Supports
Dear Sir:
A follow up report was submitted to the NRC on October 21, 1982 in response to the 10CFR21 Report of a potential defect at the Carolina Power & Light Company Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, dated August 17, 1982.
The original report addressed discrepancies between the orientation of snubbers as shown on the pipe support details and their orientation as used in the anal-ysis of record. The follow up report-stated that the analysis required for corrective action had been completed and those fixes necessary to insure piping system structural adequacy had been designed and transmitted to CP&L for in-stallation. Althot.3h all supports were verified to be within n,tructural integ-rity limits, thereby assuring the structural integrity of the associated piping t
systems, all supports were not reviewed in conjunction with Code limits.
The review of all Unit 1 supports and the design and iseue of any fixes required to reduce pipe support stresses to within Code allowable limits is on schedule for a completion date of December 1, 1982. Unit 2 is scheduled for completion by January 7, 1983, as detailed in Attachment 1.
