-t Re: McGuire Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-369 and 50-370
Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
On March 18, 1983 the NRC was notified (via ENS phone) that Unit 2 reactor trip breaker B failed to open on an undervoltage (UV) trip signal during testing per-formed to verify proper UV trip operation. On March 19, 1983 the NRC was notified (via ENS phone) that Unit I reactor trip breaker A failed to open on a UV trip signal during performance of the response time test.
Pursuant to T.S. 3.3.1 which is reportable per T.S. 6.9.1.11(b) (Unit 2) and 6.9.1.13(b) (Unit 1),
Reportable Occurrence reports R0-370/83-03 (Unit 2) and R0-369/83-15 (Unit 1) were to be submitted by April 15 and 18, 1983.respectively. However, a meeting with Duke Power Company requested by the NRC to discuss these recent reactor trip breaker failures has been tentatively rescheduled for Tuesday, April 19, 1983 (reference Ms. E. G. Adensam's letter to Mr. H. B. Tucker dated April 1, 1983).
Therefore, these two reports will now be submitted by April 22, 1983 in order that they may include any results of this meeting.
Very truly yours, S
