Dear Secretary,
In response to the notice which appeared in the 9aleigh Uews & Observer that the Carolina Power & Light Company is applying for an operating license for its Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, the Citizens Against Nuclear Power hereby rec.uest that one or more hearings be hAld end thet it be granted intervenor status.
Our particular concerns a're the health and safety of our members and of those persons residing within a fifty mile ridius of the clant.
Additional cBncerns indlude the

pobential ill effects on the personal property, animel life, and vegetation of the area; inadeouete radiation monitoring and evecuation plans; and the extraordinarily poor cerformance of CP&L's already existing nuclear plant operations and the concomitant contribution to the cost of electricity.
In accordence with the thirM S y deadline which we understond to require a February 27,19S2 postmark, we hereby respectfully submit the rec,uest made above.
