DOCKET NO.

50-266 UNIT NAME Point Beach Unit 1 DATE-February 8, 1991 l

COMPLETED BY K. F. Grasso TELEPHONE 414/755-2321 Unit 1 operated at approximately 494 MWe net throughout this l

report period with no significant load reductions.

On January 2, Operations detected a minor upward trend on a local-area radiation monitor.

The increased count rate was the result of a combination of two_small fitting leaks from the cryogenic waste gas system enhanced by auxiliary building maintenance.

The area was evacuated, the leaks were isolated and auxiliary building ventilation was returned to operation.

The area was cleaned and restored for normal work operations approximately 10 hours1.157407e-4 days
0.00278 hours
1.653439e-5 weeks
3.805e-6 months
later.- The NRC was given a courtesy call via the red phone.

. protection were not complete.

The new commitment.date for alternatershutdown'4160 volt ~ capability is: June 1, 1991.

~

Safety-related maintenance included:

control power fuse replacement on 1-B52/BYB reactor trip bypass breaker;-outboard seal replacement on 1-P-11B component cooling water pump; packing adjustments on service water pumps P-32A and P-32D;. repairs to steam flow-steam pressure compensator FM-465; vibration adjustment to P-32C service. water pump;. seal replacement of 1-P-2B charging pump and the annual overhaul of G01 emergency diesel generator.

UNIT NAME Point Beach Unit 2 DATE February 8, 1991 COMPLETED BY K.

F. Grasso TELEPHONE 414/755-2321 Unit 2 operated at approximately 499 MWe not throughout this report period with no significant load reductions.

On January 15, 2-52/RTB "B" reactor trip breaker would not close after a successful trip test.

The circuit breaker was replaced with a spare, which tested and reclosed satisfactorily.

Electricians found the linkage, the latch mechanism and the undervoltage coils were satisfactory.

Investigations by Instrument and Control technicians are continuing.

Other safety-related maintenance included repairs to pressurizer liquid space sample isolation valve 2-966B and the ten-year pressure test of part of the auxiliary feedwater system.
