Nuclear Regulatory Comission (the Comission) has issued Amendment flo.12 to f acility Operating License Ho. NPF-il, issued to Comon-l wealth Edison Company, and a related exemption from 10 CFR 550.44 for operation of the La Salle County Station, Unit No.1 (the facility) located in Brookfield l
Township, La Salle County, Illinois.
i The regolation 10 CFR $50.44 requires that all reactors with Mark I cr 11 containment must be inerted 6 months after initial Criticality.
La Salle Unit 1 has a tiark 11 containment and its initial criticality was perforned on June 21, 1982.
It is presently completing its startup program

and Comonwealth Edison requested an exemption from this regulation to avoid any ootential negative impact on the startuo program. The exenstion is authorized until either the required 100 percent rated thermal oower trio test has been perforned or the reactor has onerated for 120 effective full j
power days, whichever is first. The Amendment and exemption are effective as of the date of issuance.
The application for amendment and exenotion comply with the standards and requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Comission's rules and regulations. The Comission has nade appronriate findings as required by the Act and the Comission's rules and regulations 8301030338 021220 j

The Comission has determined that the issuance of this Amendment and the exenption will not result in any significant environmental impact and that oursuant to 10 CFR Section 51.5(d)(4) an environmental impact statement, or necative declaration and environmental impact appraisal need not be prepared in conn:ctio1 with issuance of this Amendment and exemption.
