Dear Mr. Keppler:
Your letter of October 19, 1982 confirmed the discussion on October 6, 1982 between Mr.
H. Livermore, Senior Resident Inspector and Illinois Power Company representatives regarding concurrence in a limited resumption of work under Stop Work Order (SWO) 10, Drywell Refueling Bellows.
The request was to perform nondestructive weld examination.
Your letter contained written confirmation of the authorization for a partial lift of SWO 10, subject to meeting three prerequisites for performance of the examination.
One prerequisite was identification of the type of discontinuity on the weld map.
In this regard it is noted that this is not always possible with ultrasonic (UT) examination results.
To ensure no misunderstanding occurs in this matter Illinois Power Company intends to take the following action:
a.
The type of defect will be indicated on the weld l'
map where radiographic (RT) examination was performed.
b.
Where possible UT analysis will be entered on the weld map.
The other prerequisites have been met.
