Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-413 and 50-414 NRC Inspection Report No. 50-413, 414/89-10 IF1 50-413, 414/86-01-01 Request for Commitment Date Extension Catawba Nuclear Station committed to the NRC on April 13, 1989 to have modifications in place, during 1990, to route the discharge of the Post Accident Liquid Sample (PA!.S) panel to a closed system. This modification will bring Duke Power in compliance with guidance in NUREG-0737 which specifies that " residues of sample collection should be returned to containment or to a closed system."
The outage portion of work required for these modifications (NSM 10067, Unit One; NSM 20073, Unit Two) was completed during each units last outage.
Non-outage work was to begin in late August and take approximately ten weeks to complete, including testing.
The non-outage modifications were not started until becember 10, 1990 because of man power reallocation associated with the extended outage on Unit 2.
It is expected to take three to four weeks to install the modifications and another six weeks to perform testing and training.
This will require an extension of the commitment date to February 18, 1991.
