Gentlemen:

Carolina Power 6 Light Company (CP6L) hereby submits a response to NRC Ceneric Letter No. 8910, Supplement 3 as applicable to the Brunsvick Steam laectric Plant, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 (BSEP).

This is to confirm that CP6L has completed a plant specific safety assessment for the itPCI, RCIC, and RWCU motor operated valves (MOVs), addressinh the factore desetibed in Supplement 3 '.o t he Ge ne r i c Le t t e r . Based upon this safety assessment, our conclusion is that any potential deficiencies associated with the llPC1, RCIC, and RWCU isolation valves are not safety significant. This safety assessment ir . ..r NRC staff review, With respect to notifying the NRC of any MOVs with deficiencies of greater significance than the llELB HOVs, CP&L is not currently aware of any safety-related HOVs with deficiencies which would compromise their safety function.

If deficiencies are identified in any safety related HOVs, an assessment of operability and reporting requirements will be completed in accordance with Technical Specifications and plant procedures.

As requested in the Generic Letter, CP&L will provide the criteria used in making the capability determination for the identified valves within 120 days of receipt of Ceneric Letter 8910, Supplement 3.
