McGuire Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-369 and 50-370 NRC Generic Letter 92-08, Thermo-Lag 330-1 Fire Barriers Response.to NRC request for additional information
Dear Sir:
By letter dated February 11, 1994, additional information regarding our plans and schedules for resolving the technical issues concerning the Thermo-Lag fire barriers installed at McGuire was submitted.
As stated in our response to item VI. - SCHEDULES - the uncertainties, as well as the complexity associated with' this issue could impact the schedule that was provided.
Additionally, the outcome of the NUMARC test program and the
. reevaluation effort could also impact the proposed schedule.
Accordingly, our Engineering reevaluation effort is still on.
going.
Our efforts have identified other alternatives for achieving safe shutdown for fires within the subject areas of concern.
The focus of the current activities are:
(1) verification of the acceptability of the other potential-alternatives, (2) identification of the optimum alternative, and (3) the development of the work scope and schedules needed to implement the chosen method.
