' Additional Information - TAC 76889 Gentlemen:
This provides our response to your request for additional infcrmation dated October 30, 1990 concerning our request to implement a
variable Overpressure Protection System (OPPS) setpoint as a function of temperature.
The OPPS is required to be placed in service during plant cooldown following Operating Manual Chapter 51, Procedure-D, Station Cooldown from the Hot Shutdown (mode
- 4) to the Cold Shutdown i
Shutdown '(mode 5).
The OPPS is then placed in service in accordance with-Operating. Surveillance Test (OST) 1.6.8, Placing Overpres ire Protection ESystem.in Service.
A temperature is selected and the corresponding pressure is obtained from new Figure 3.4-4-then the i
actuation setpoint is set and is verified monthly in accordance with Maintenance Surveillance Procedurca (MSP's) 6.68 and 6.69.
Normally the :setpoint' 'is set once on plant cooldown prior to decreasing Tavg below-the-current Technical Specification value of 275'F and is then removed on pla nt'.
heatup when Tavg increases above 275'F.
Utilizing
. existing equipment, the methodology to be applied upon receipt of NRC apnroval' is to select a setpoint, which envelopes all RCS temperature 1-...jes expected for anticipated plant conditions.
A
. plant design change (DCP-1587) is being considered to incorporate an automatic' setpoint funct..on similar to that used at DV-2, however,. no schedule has yet been determined to implement this change.
