Some RFA relays supplied by General Electric Company whic.i were ccnvqrted from,normally opAn to normally closed by GE shop innd/or f ield pe rsonnel. may have incorrect " wipe se t t ings."

The contacts are self-aligning, but the contact wipe can be out of adjustment.

This condition was reported to the NRC by GE under 10CFR21 in a le t ter da ted July 27, 1982.

Mr. James G. Keppler September 17, 1982 Method Planned for Completion of Evaluation Field Disposition Instructions (FDI) WNQA and WRMK, issued March 19, 1982, by CE, require that the HFA relays be visually inspected and any Ldentified as defective be recalibrated according to the referenced FDIs. The scheduled completion dates for implementation of the FDIs are October 29, 1982, and October 31, 1983, for Units 1 and 2 respectively. We will then file our next report on this subject.
