Dear Mr. Vassallo:
This letter is in regard to Radiological Effluent Technical Specifications (RETS) for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant. Carolina Power
& Light Company (CP&L) has prepared the attached draf t RETS document to update our May 31, 1979 RETS submittal.
The attached draf t RETS are for information only and do not constitute a formal request for revisions to Technical Specifications.
DISCUSSION The attached document was prepared to more closely reflect NRC/ consultant guidance.
Therefore, it will serve as a better basis than the 1979 submittal for our discussions with Franklin Research Center (FRC),
currently scheduled for October, 1982. Two copies are being sent directly to FRC via distribution of this letter.
The Of fsite Dose Calculation Manual (ODCM) was submitted to NRC on October 22, 1979.
Carolina Power & Light Company is revising this ODCM to be consistent with the updated RETS. The revised ODCM should be available for the October meeting with FRC, but not earlier. The revised ODCM should be used for the upcoming RETS reviews.
Proposed technical specifications for the Augmented Of f Gas System are included in the attached RETS.
Carolina Power & Light Company would appreciate NRC Region Il representation at our October, 1982 meetings with FRC.

The draf t RETS attached to this letter are intended to provide an up-to-date technical basis for discussions with FRC.
Adminstrative corrections and format revisions may be needed once the technical issues have been addressed.
