SUMMARY
OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE Virgil C.
Summer Nuclear Station, Unit No.1, has been in the precess of continuing the power ascension test program at a 50% of rated thermal power level.
A reactor trip occurred at 1051 hours0.0122 days <br />0.292 hours <br />0.00174 weeks <br />3.999055e-4 months <br /> January 18,1983, from a 50%
power level.
The trip was due to a turbine trip on Hi bearing vibration.
An investigation revealed that a. spurious trip signal was generated due to loose electrical connections in the turbine supervisory cabinet.
A reactor trip occurred at 1150 hours0.0133 days <br />0.319 hours <br />0.0019 weeks <br />4.37575e-4 months <br /> January 22, 1983, from a 50%
power level.
The reactor trip was due to a turbine trip while performing a surveillance test on the main turbine control and stop valves.
A reactor trip occurred at 1337 hours0.0155 days <br />0.371 hours <br />0.00221 weeks <br />5.087285e-4 months <br /> January 29,1983, from a 50%
power level.
The reactor was tripped manually, when four (4) control rods [instead of two (2)] were inadvertantly dropped, while performing a Nuclear Instrumentation Negative Rate Reactor Trip Test.
