Dear Mr. Check:

DIRECT HEAT REMOVAL SERVICE (DHRS), PRELIMINARY SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORT (PSAR) SECTION 5.6.2

Reference:

Letter, J. R. Longenecker to P. S. Check, HQ:S:82:149,

" Meeting Summary for the Shutdown Heat Removal Meeting, December 16, 1982," dated December 20, 1982 In accordance with discussions between the Clinch River Breeder Reactor Plant project and your staff, the enclosed PSAR page has been modified to provide a commitment to transfer the Ex Vessel Storage Tank (EVST) heat load to the natural circulation cooled EVST loop in the event of a single failure of the DHRS. The revised page supersedes that enclosed in the reference and will be incorporated in a future PSAR amendment.

Sincerely, O

J n R. Longe ker Acting Director, Office of Breeder Demonstration Projects Office of Nuclear Energy Enclosure cc: Service List Standard Distribution Licensing Distribution
