E M Y NIAGARA RUMOHAWK NINE MILE POINT NUCLEAR STATION /P.O. BOX 32 LYCOMING, NEW YORK 13093 / TELEPHONE (315) 343-2110 October 26, 1982 Mr. Ronald C. Haynes Regional Administrator United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region I 631 Park Avenue King of Prussia, PA.
19406 Re:
Docket No. 50-220
Dear Mr. Haynes:
Our letter of March 24, 1982 indicated that we would develop and administer a training course to cover all aspects of post-accident sampling prior to our small scale exercise scheduled for October 27, 1982.
1 As you are aware, Nine Mile Point Unit (/l is present ly in an outage to replace our reactor recirculation system piping. As a result 1
of this outage, we have requested and received an exemption from con-ducting the planned October 27, 1982 exercise.
Due to the critical nature of the outage work and to avoid the diversion of personnel and resources from the timely completion of the outage, we will also be extending the completion of the post-accident sampling training.
This extension is necessary to provide additional time in establishing all j
the necessary interfaces with plant systems and thus ensure the admini-stration of a realistic training program. We anticipate that this j
training will be completed prior to the date of our rescheduled exercise.
Please contact me at your earliest convenience if the information contained in this correspondence does not meet with your approval.
You may be assured of our continued cooperation.
Very truly fours,
's
