DUKEPOWER September 4, 1990 U.~ S. Nuclear Regulatory Constission -

ATTNt' Document Control Desk ,

Washington, D.C. 20555 Subjects - McGuire Nuclear Station Docket 50-369.and 50-370 Technical Specification Change

= To Allow: Reduced Reactor '

Coolant'. System Flow Requirements Because of steam generator tube degradation, it has been necessary to plug; or sleeve some of the tubes in'the steam generators in both units at-McGuire.- An effect of this repair may_be the reduction of Reactor Coolant S System (RCS) Flow.. Attached is a proposed technical specification change

-which would reduce the required measured flowrate by 1 percent.(from 97220 GPM/ Loop _toL96250 GIM/ Loop). Also, an administrative change is being-made to delete references to the RTD bypass manifold system. This systs was deleted from both units, and technical specification references are obsolete. ; Deletion;of the system was approved by the NRC staff in a previous; license amendment. The revised pages from technical

specifications are included as Attachment I, the Justification and Safety Analysis appear,in Attachment II, and a "No Significant Hazards" analysis is contained'in Attachment III.
