MOTION TO DIRECT STAFF TO RESCHEDULE MEETING i
UCS/NYPIRG has this day sent the attached motion to the ASLB, requesting that a meeting called by the Staff for Albuquerque, New Mexico, to discuss the Indian Point probabilistic risk assessment, be rescheduled for Washington, D.C.
or New York. -- The meeting notice is dated September 15.
We did not receive it until October 7,
1982.
Because we are doubtful of the authority of the ASLB in this area, and because it is the Commission'c recent Orders that have made it mandatory on all Intervenors to present a discussion of the probability of accidents at Indian Point, we move the Com-mission to direct the Staff to reschedule this meeting.
The simple fact is that we are unable to attend if it is held in New Mexico.
We cannot afford the expense or the time.
Exclud-ing the Intervenors in this manner is gravely prejudicial to our interests since we are required under the Commission's directive, to discuss accident probabilities at Indian Point as a requisite for discussing consequences and the Sandia review of the Indian Point risk assessment is the major piece of Staff work on that f; N ADOCKS2'10130337 821007' ~

' question.
Therefore, UCS/NYPIRG moves the Commission to direct that this and future meetings on the issues covered-by the Indian Point hearings be held in New York or Washington, D.C.
and that Inter-venors be given notice at the same time as other parties, rather than three weeks later.
Respectfully submitted, NO.
