INTERIM REPORT - DER 82-43 POTENTIAL REPORTABLE DEFICIENCY ARIZONA PUBL'C SERVICE COMPANY (APS)

PVNGS UNIT 2 I. POTENTIAL PROBLEM QC surveillance and random inspection of Unit 2 main control boards indicated there may be deficiencies with the wiring terminations as supplied by Comsip, Incorporated. Inspection of the lug terminations completed by Comsip revealed the following visual items:

Paper insulation is visible around the conductor, inside lug barrel.

Conductor is not visible inside lug barrel.

Jumpers cut short, stress in lugs at termination points.

Lugs not fastened securely to terminal strip.

These conditions are not indicative of open circuits, but a review of the conditions is being made to evaluate compliance with applicable acceptance. requirements.

II. APPROACH TO AND STATUS OF PROPOSED RESOLUTION Bechtel is currently pursuing this matter with Comsip to establish appropriate inspection cri teria for crimped terminations, and to assist in dispositioning this situation.

III. PROJECTED COMPLETION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION AND SUBMITTAL OF THE FINAL REPORT Evaluation of this condition and submittal of the Final Report is forecast to be completed by December 12, 1982.
