Docket No. 50-285 IE Inspection Report 81-16

Dear Mr. Seidle:

Fort Calhoun Station Quality Assurance (QA) Records Omaha Public Power District's letters to the Commission dated September 4 and October 12, 1981 provided the District's corrective steps and schedule for resolving the Comrtission's concerns identified in the referenced Inspection Report regarding the retention and retriev-ability of Fort Calhoun Station QA records. Specifically, the District stated that the subject QA records would be coded, microfilmed, and entered into the District's Records Management System (RMS) by June 30, 1982. The purpose of this letter is to provide the Commission with a status update regarding the completion of this task. The District's RMS was established in 1981 to index and microfilm District documents, records, and correspondence, including the Fort Calhoun Station QA records. The District has procured the necessary computer hardware and software to facilitate this effort. Additionally, the District developed, trained, and staffed a RMS department and obtained duplicating equipment that was believed to be adequate for completing this task in a timely manner. To date, over 150,000 QA records have been coded and entered into the system, and it is estimated that 2 million QA records dated December 31, 1981 or earlier remain to be processed into the PMS. To expedite the processing of these re-maining QA records, the District has supplemented the present RMS staff with additional coding and microfilming personnel and has comp'eted arrangements for implementing 2 additional microfilm cameras. One of the 2 additional microfilm cameras was operational by late June, 1982 and the other camera has been ordered and will be placed in service upon

i. J' receipt. With these additional measures, the District now expects to enter QA records, dated December 31, 1981 and earlier, that can be batch f EE10070333 821005 i
