SUBJECT:

Interim Finding on Commenche Peak Steam Elect ric Station Offsite Emergency Preparedness Attached is a copy of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region VI Radiological Assistance Committee and FEMA Region VI review of the State of Texas Emergency Management Plan and the Hood and Somervell Counties Emergency Operations Plans.

These of fsite plans were submitted for the Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station.

The review of the plans was based on Section II (A through P), Planning Standards and Evaluation Criteria, NUREG-0654/ FEMA-REP-1, Rev.l.

I Based on this initial review of the relevant State and County Plans there is reasonable assurance at this time that the off-site protection of the public's health and safety is adequate.

The first joint exercise for the demonstration of off-site preparedness based on these plans is scheduled for early next calendar year.
