ENCLOSURE SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 SPECIAL REPORT 94-02 DCS.Cription of Condition In support of the modification activities associated with Vital Battery Board Rooms I, II, III, and IV on Elevation 749.0 of.the auxiliary building, the following six fire barriers will be intentionally breached for periods that exceed the technical specification (TS) allowable timeframe.
1.
Fire Door A-180, connecting 480-volt (V) Board Room 1B and 480-V Board Room 1A 2.
Fire Door A-182, serving 125-V Vital Battery Room I 3.
Fire Door A-181, serving 125-V Vital Battery Room II 4.
Fire Door A-195, serving 125-V Vital Battery Room III 5.
Fire Door A-194, serving 125-V Vital Battery Room IV 6.
Equipment hatch on the Elevation 749.0 floor, joining 480-V Board Room 1A and the 6.9-kilovolt shutdown board room on Elevation 734.0 These conditions are being reported in accordance with TS Action Statement 3.7.12.a.
Cause_of_fondition A design change notice (DCN) has been issued to replace the battery cells; modify the existing battery racks; and repaint 125-V Vital Battery Rooms I, II, III, and IV on Elevation 749.0 of the auxiliary building.
The implementation of this DCN modification will require approximately six weeks per room; however, only one room at a time will be affected.
The doors and the equipment hatch mentioned above will be breached as needed to facilitate the movement of material, equipment, and personnel and also'to route any required cables and hoses necessory to accomplish the job. The DCN is expected to be completed in late July 1994.
Cm activa._ Action In accordance with Limiting Condition for Operation 3.7.12 Action Statement (a), the fire-detectors in the area outside the battery rooms were verified operable; a roving fire watch was established and will be maintained until the fire barriers are reestablished as required by TSs.
