20555 RE:
Denial of Service from Duke Power Company
Dear Mr. Toaleton,
Duke Power Company was approached by the City of Camden as a possible source of lower wholesale power rates.
The City of Camden is presently purchasing power from Carolina Power and Light Company. A survey by me indicated that municipalities purchasing power from Duke were getting power at lower rates at that time.
The Duke representative indicated to us that they were cutting back on construction of generation units and would not have adequate capacity to accept the City of Camden as a wholesale customer in the future.
It was indicated to us that Duke intended to use load management techniques in an effort to reduce future generation requirements.
The denial of sale of power to us by Duke means that the City of Camden will be required to continue purchasing power from Carolina Power and Light Company.
Sincerely, CITY OF CAMDEN Y
Charles Litchfield Director of Utilities
