t SPECIAL REPORT CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 1 PIP 1-C94-0143 Vibration and Loose Parts Monitoring System Channels 3, 4, and 5 On December 28,1993, Channel 3 (Upper Reactor Vessel A), Channel 4 (Upper Reactor Vessel B), and Channel 5 (S/G A inside) were declared inoperable.

Channels 3 and 5 are out of calibration and Channel 4 is out of service. Work requests (#93044035, #93043891, and #93043893) have been written to repair these channels during a future outage of sufficient length. The following channelis operable and providing coverage as noted:

Since these channels have been inoperable for more than 30 days, they are reportable to the NRC pursuant to Technical Specification 3.3.3.9.
