Dear Mr. Keppler:
On December 8,1981, Mr. T. D. Geib of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc. (PSI) notified your of fice of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e). PSI Quality As-surance personnel discovered that existing procedares did not require specification / design changes made via engineering change notices, specification amendments, or drawing revisions to be contractually imposed on suppliers or contractors. This created the potential for specification / design changes to be left unin-corporated in the as-built configuration of safety related equipment or structures.
PSI is continuing to determine what, if any, design changes were lef t unincorporated in final as-built configurations. PSI is also pursuing procedural changes which will require that specification /
design changes are contractually imposed on suppliers and contractors.
This letter is intended to fulfill the requirements of an interim report as defined in 10 CFR 50.55(e). A further report will be filed on or before December 17, 1982. If you have any questions on this matter, please feel free to contact me.
