Subject:

LaSalle County Station Unit 1 Structural Bolting Tightness Inspection Program for Reactor Containment Valves NRC Docket No. 50-373

, Reference (a): Amendment 3 to License NPF-11 i dated July 15, 1982, Item 2.C. (31) .

Dear Mr. Keppler:

The Structural Bolting Tightness Inspection program has been completed for containment valves. The results of this inspection program are contained in the following attachments:

! Summary of inspection results - 2 pages Engineering evaluation of the inspection results - 1 page Inspection data sheets - 48 pages Inspection program description - 8 pages A copy of this information was given to NRC Region III l Inspector Roger Lanksbury, during his July 17, 1982 on-site review l

of the inspection results. As a result of his review, some additional data was obtained and additional information was added on j some of the data sheets to clarify existing inspection data.

i l A total of 2,600 bolts essential to the operation of the valves were inspected. Of these 2,600, 5 bolts were found to have j tightness discrepancies. These discrepancies were reviewed by CECO Project Engineering and determined not to be safety significant.

Therefore, a nonconformance report was not initiated.

The inspection program for valves outside containment is being developed. The inspection work will be completed before January 15, 1983 in accordance with the requirements in Reference (a).
