October 29, 1993 Docket Nos. 50-269, 50-270 and 50-287 Mr. J. W. Hampton Vice President, Oconee Site Duke Power Company P.O. Box 1439 f

Seneca, South Carolina 29679

Dear Mr. Hampton:

SUBJECT:

SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSES TO IE BULLETIN 79 OCONEE UNITS 1, 2, i

AND 3 (TAC NOS M86024, M86025, AND M86026)

By letters dated January 28, 1993, and July 14, 1993, Duke Power Company (DPC)

{

submitted supplemental responses to IE Bulletin 79-27. The submittals provided an evaluation in accordance with the guidelines of the bulletin of the Oconee 230 kV switchyard and Keowee hydro units instrumentation and control system power supply. The supplemental responses were necessary l

because DPC had determined that both Keowee hydro units and the 230 kV J

i switchyard had not been evaluated against the IE Bulletin 79-27 concerns, and consequently not reported in the original DPC response. Our review of the supplemental submittals to IE Bulletin 79-27 is enclosed. We have concluded that the concerns specified in the bulletin have been adequately addressed.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, contact me at (301) 504-1495.

Sincerely, Original signed by:

Leonard A. Wiens, Project Manager Project Directorate 11-3 Division of Reactor Projects - I/II Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation
