Proposed Evaluation Criteria for Essential Service Vater Pipeline Drilling Operations The Hydrological-Geotechnical Engineering Branch (HSEB) has reviewed your July 20,1982 letter, regarding the evalustion criteria to be used in a proposed progra'i to obtain additior.al information on the Byron Station essential service water pipeline foundation.
We find that criteria acceptable as modified by a July 23, 1962 phone call between your consultant Mr. Larry Holish of Sargent and Lundy, and tir. Lyman Heller of hGEB. In that phone conversation, the staff was inforned that a bore-hole TV camera or equivalent observational nethod would be used to check borehole in which rod drops of one foot or more occured. The purpose of the observation would be to assure that the open joint penetrated does not open into an adjacent larger void.
The HGEB staff has also requested that it be inforned of your drilling schedule so that it may observe some of the drilling operations and results. Please contact the project mananer, Stephen Chesnut if you desire additional discussion on this natter.
