Dear Mr. Mayer:
As we discussed with you today the NRC is requesting that Northern States Power Company participate in a vital area analysis of the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plar.t, Units 1 and 2, as part of the 10 CFR 73.55 security plan review. Mr. Eddie Claiborne and John. Rand of Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory, Los Alamos, New Mexico, have scheduled January 9,10 and 11,1979 for the analysis of Prairie Island which will involve a site visit to obtain information needed~
for the analysis of vital areas. Your cooperation in admitting the LASL team to the Prairie Island site and in assisting them by providing the necessary input information for our. analysis is necessary to complete the security plan review of the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1 and 2.
i Upon completion of theanalysis, we will be pleased to discuss the results with you and your staff.
