Docket No. 50-285 L

IE Inspection Report 82-02

Dear Mr. Seidle:

Resolution to the Potential for Compromise of Operator Requalification Examinations Issue The Commission's letters dated March 22 and July 2, 1982 asked Omaha Public Power District to respond to Open Item 8102-05 of the referenced Inspection Report regarding District actions to prevent potential compromise of Fort Calhoun Station operator requalification examinations. The District's response and actions regarding this item are detailed below.

Cormlencing with the fall 1982 requalification examinations, the District will utilize a bank of questions for each of the five sections to the Reactor Operetor (RO) and Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) exami-nations. The District's Training Department will randomly select questions from this bank to comprise a full five section examination for each examinee. This method will provide for individualized examinations, with no single candidate knowing all potential questions within each section. The District will also maintain the bank of examination questions and completed examinations in a locked, fire-proof cabinet and will administer the annual requalification examinations during a six week time frame, instead of the previous extended examination periods.

The District believes these actions are sufficient to preclude the com-promise of R0/SRO requalification examinations.

Sincerely, R208060216 820802 IJ f.$' ([
