SUMMER NUCLE AR PLANT PROCEDURES The following is provided in response to an NRC request for additional information per the telephone conference on September 26,1990, with South Carolina Electric &
I Gas Company (SCE8G), NRR and Region 11. The request concerned the present resources that SCE8G utilizes to aerform Two Year Reviews" of procedures, and the development of a biennial Qua ity Assurance audit of the procedural development i
program.

The Nuclear Operations Division presently has a total of 2157 arocedures which fall under the two year review requirements. Assuming that hat of these procedures (1078) are reviewed on an annual basis and the average processing time for each arocedure is 20 hours2.314815e-4 days <br />0.00556 hours <br />3.306878e-5 weeks <br />7.61e-6 months <br />, the manhour requirements are 21,560 manhours / year. The 20 1ours is the time required for the Originator, the Qualified Reviewer, the Discipline Supervisor, the Cross Disciplinary Reviews and the Approval Authority, in addition the time requirements for the word processing, documents, records and posting of the procedures is approximately 5 hours5.787037e-5 days <br />0.00139 hours <br />8.267196e-6 weeks <br />1.9025e-6 months <br /> per procedure or 5390 manhours / year. The total manpower savings, which will be applied to other areas of procedure development, will be approximately 26,950 manhours annually.
The Quality Systems Group will perform a biennial Quality Assurance audit of the procedural development program utilizing a representative sampling process. This audit will provide verification that the program inputs / feedbacks outlined in the SCE8G initial submittal letter dated June 7,1990, are effective in maintaining procedures current, if there are any questions, please contact us at your convenience.
