Inspection No. 50-352/90-20 and 50-353/90-19
This letter transmits the results of the routine resident safety inspection by Messrs. T. Kenny,
L. Scholl, and Ms. M. Evans from August 13 - September 16,1990, at the Limerick Generating
Station, Limerick, Pennsylvania. The inspection consisted of document reviews, interviews, and
observations of activities. The results have been discussed with Mr. John W ' Spencer of your
staff.

No violations were identified by the NRC during this inspection. .We noted that the control room
.
staff response to the Unit 2 scram, including the supervision and direction provided by the shift
manager and shift supervisor, was excellent. Also, we found the decision to shutdown Unit 2-

to address the electro-hydraulic control problems;was positive and oriented towards safety.
_
However, we also noted several personnel errors resulting in' safety system actuations indicating
continued management attention in this area is warranted.
