490.1 Since the issuance of NED0-20944, which is referenced in the Limerick FSAR, GE has. developed another fuel design as described in NED0-24011-A-2.
Is the applicant's fuel system design like the new fuel. design (NED0-240ll-A-2)?
If so, provide the information that is needed for the new fuel design.
490.2 The SRP states that allowable oxidation, hydriding, and crud levels should be discussed in the FSAR and shown to be acceptable.
In the past, we have not reviewed these phenomena in accordance with the SRP.
However, in light of (a) recent emphasis on stricter adherence to the SRP, and (t) current
' interest in extended burnups, we request that you provide the following:
(1)
Allowable limits on external ox dation, hydriding, and crud buildup.
(2)
Justification for those limits.
(3)
Evidence that the Limerick fuel will not exceed those limits.
490.3 The SRP Section 4.2 states the need for on-line fuel system monitoring and post-irradiation surveillance.
The FSAR Section 4.2 and NED0-20944 do not have information about on-line fuel system monitoring.
Although Section 2.4l.3 of NED0-209_44 has some information about post-irradiation surveillance, the contents do not follow the SRP guidelines.
Please provide further infonnation on on-line fuel system monitoring and post-irradiation surveillance in accordance with the SRP guidelines.
