BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT NO. 1 DOCKET NO. 50-325/ LICENSE NO. DPR-71 MAXIMUM EXTENDED-OPERATING DOMAIN UPDATED TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION PAGES (NRC TAC NO. 75115)

Gentlemen:

On March 29, 1989 (NLS-89-060), Carolina' Power &_ Light Company (CP&L) requested a change to the Technical Specifications for the Brunswick oceam Electric Plant, Units 1 and 2.

The-proposed amendment consisted of several changes which permit an expanded operating domain' for the Brunswick units.

In response to the Company's request, on October'.12, 1989 the NRC issued Amendment 168 to the Brunswick Unit 2 Technical' Specifications. -Enclosure 1 of this letter provides the typed Technical Specification pages for your convenience in issuing the proposed request for Unit.-l.

The Technical Specification pages included'in Enclosure 1 have been updated to-reflect recently issued amendments and supersede, in their entirety, those provided in CP&L's submittal dated June 27,-1990 (NLS 90-134). The Unit 1 Technical Specification pages provided in= Enclosure 1-match the-format of-those previously issued by Amendment 168 for Unit 2.

CP&L has endeavored,_

where possible, to follow the recent format guidance provided in the Technical Specification meeting with your staff on August.24, 1990..However, in this instance, CP&L believes that consistency;between. Unit-1.and Unit 2 Technical Specification pages outweighs format considerations..In the future, we will continue to use the recent format guidance in other amendments. contains a set of instructions for' incorporating the proposed changes into the Technical Specifications for Unit 1.

Please refer any i

questions regarding this submittal to Mr. M. R. Oates at-(919) 546-6063.
