1RPRRTIVE Sutt9RY OF FOffIHLY OPEPATDIG EXPERIDJCE UNIT 1 OCIOBER 1993 October 1
'Ihe Unit operated at a nominal value of 100% output.
through October 11 October 12 At 1507 hours0.0174 days
0.419 hours
0.00249 weeks
5.734135e-4 months
the Unit experienced a loss of the majority of offsite load when ten offsite feed breakers in the Beaver Valley switchyard opened as a
result of inadvertent underfrequency system separation.
We large load reduction caused the turbine to trip on nechanical overspeed and resulted in a "high flux rate positive" reactor trip. The opening of the switchyard feed breakers arx1 the resultant turbine generator trip resulted in a loss of offsite power to both Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2.
Offsite power was restored to both Units at 1517 hours0.0176 days
0.421 hours
0.00251 weeks
5.772185e-4 months
.
'Ihe Unit remained in Mode 3 to ccuplete required inspections on the RCS Protection RID's.
October 13 The Unit initiated a cooldcun to Mode 5 at 1110 hours0.0128 days
0.308 hours
0.00184 weeks
4.22355e-4 months
due to pressure boundary leakage from the Loop 1A Cold Irg Isolation Vent [1RC-27). Mode 4 was entered at 1747 hours0.0202 days
0.485 hours
0.00289 weeks
6.647335e-4 months
.
October 14 Mode 5 was entered at C.;00 hours0 days
0 hours
0 weeks
0 months
.
October 15 The Unit remained in Mode 5 while performing repairs to thrcugh
[1RC-27).
s October 18 October 19 Completed removing
[1RC-27) and plugging the line as a temporary repair until the loth refueling outage (10R).
f October 20 The Unit remained in Mode 5 during plant recovery to permit plant startup.
October 21 D.1 ring plant startup, the "C" Reactor Coolant Pump tripped at 1658 hours0.0192 days
0.461 hours
0.00274 weeks
6.30869e-4 months
. Investigation revealed a ground in the motor.
October 22
'Ihe Unit remained in Mode 5 for the remainder of the report through period shile repairs to the "C" Reactor Coolant Pump motor 4
October 31 continued.
