Dear Mr. Feigenbaum
SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-443/93-21
This letter transmits the report of the safety inspection findings of the resident staff at
Seabrook Station for the period of November 9 through December 6,1993. The inspection
>
consisted of document reviews, personnel interviews, and observations of activities important
to the health and safety of the public. The inspector discussed the findings with Mr. W.
DiProfio and members of your staff after the inspection.
Overall, this inspection found that activities were conducted safely. Operators, chemists,
and engineers performed well in responding to a condenser tube leak and equipment failures.
However, your staff's failure to effectively identify and correct problems with a main steam
isolation valve and a temporary air compressor resulted in unplanned transients.
