SUBJECT:
CLOSE0VT SURVEY OF REED-CURTIS NUCLEAR INDUSTRIES FACILITY This letter refers to the special closecut survey conducted on January 21, 1993, of the facility formerly occupied by Reed-Curtis Nuclear Industries, located at 9459 Jefferson Blvd., Culver City, California, during the period from 1957 to November 21, 1961.
Licensed activities were previously authorized by AEC License No. 4-748-4.
This special inspection was conducted by Mr. Michael tillis of this office and Mr. Kim S. Wong, State of California, Department of Health Services.
This letter also refers to the discussion held by Mr. Cillis and Mr. Wong with yourself and the individuals listed in Section 1 at the conclusion of the closecut survey, regarding the results of our confirmatory measurements conducted during the inspection.
The enclosed copy of the inspection report identifies areas examined during the inspection. The inspection consisted of a selective examination of representative records from the former files, observations, independent measurements, and interviews with the current building owner and tenants.
Based upon the results of this inspection, we have concluded that the former licensee's facility was successfully decontaminated in accordance with current NRC guidelines for release of facilities for unrestricted use.~
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and the enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
