This letter refers to the above subject physical security inspection of Limerick Generating Station
Units 1 and 2 by Messrs. A. Della Ratta and D. F. Limroth of this office. Our preliminary
i
findings were discussed by Mr. Della Ratta with Mr. Karney and other members of your staff
l
by telephone on December 15, 1993.
This inspection examined the protected area (PA) barriers, intrusion detection systems and access
.
control equipment associated with the construction of the access control center as an addition to
l
'
the Technical Support Center (TSC).
i
The inspectors concluded, based on observations, examinations of selected procedures and
j
interviews with personnel and licensee management, that the physical security program, as
!
implemented, was appropriately directed toward protecting public health and safety. No safety
!
concerns or violations of regulatory r ;'imme: ts were identified.
