By let.ter dated April 25, 1990 (NRC-90-0078), Detroit Edison Company (DECO) responded to NRC Bulletin 90-02 concerning loss of thermal margin caused by . )

channel box bow. The subject bulletin requested Detroit Edison Company.(Deco) to identify the number and location of channel boxes being used longer than '

one fuel cycle, and that compliance with the Technical Specifications' thermal limits be confirmed. Your response confirmed that the inspections requested by the subject bulletin had been performed and the inspections indicated that fuel channel boxes will not be used after the first bundle lifetime.

The staff has reviewed your response to Bulletin 90-02 and finds your response '

has me all the requirements of the bulletin. Therefore; the staff finds your '

respont3 to Bulletin 90-02 to be acceptable and no additional actions are required. The staff recommends that the analysis prepared.in response to the bulletin be kept on file for further review by NP.C inspectors.
