Subject: Inspection No. 50-219/93-20
This letter refers to the announced safety inspection conducted by Ms. Laurie Peluso of this
office on August 16-20, 1993, of activities authorized by NRC License No. DPR-16 at the
Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station and to the discussions of our findings held by Ms.
Peluso with Mr. S. Levin and other members of your staff on April 20. The inspection was
continued on September 17, 1993, during a meeting held between our staffs to review
additional radiation monitoring system calibration information. The meeting attendees are
listed in Section 1.3 of the enclosed report.
Areas examined during this inspection, involving your radioactive liquid and gaseous effluent
control programs, are important to public health and safety and are described in the NRC
Region I Inspection Report that is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records,
'
interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection, effective implementation of the radioactive effluent
control programs and the capability to protect the public health and safety and the
environment were observed. No violations of NRC requirements were identified.
