Augmented Pressurizer Vessel Exam

Yankee performed an automated ultrasonic inspection of the pressurizer vessel cladding interface'at Yankee Nuclear Power Station (YNPS) during the 1990' refueling outage. This work was'a continuation of the surveillances begun.in 1965. TheEinspection utilized a 60' focused longitudinal wave transducer specifically designed to examine the vessel's inside diameter. The results of the inspection continue to indicate no evidence.of any cladding indication extending into the base material of the vessel.
Yankee intends to' periodically perform this inspection using the present or'~similar automated equipment. The Inservice Inspection Program for YNPS will'be modified:to' include a twice per ten-year interval inspection
