POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUES CONTAINED IN DEPOSITION TRANSCRIPTS PROVIDED BY COMMONWEALTH EDISON COMPANY ATTORNEYS
Dear Mr. Reed:
We were recently provided by Commonwealth Edison Company attorneys a lengthy deposition transcript taken over the period of March and April 1990 of the former site quality manager for the Phillips-Getschow Company at the Braidwood site.
This individual was responsible for QA and QC and employed in that capacity from June 1985 until June 1987 when he was terminated by Commonwealth Edison.
A review of this transcript indicates that the former employee identified a number of concerns about the quality of welds at Braidwood, welder certifications, N-5 data packages, and related matters. Many of these matters have been previously known or reviewed by NRC.
I request that you inform us, after your review of this - material, what substantive safety issues were identified and how these issues have been or will be resolved.
