Docket No. 50-263 License No. DPR-22 Response to August 24, 1973 Order Changing Monticello Technical Specifications This communication is in compliance with the August 24, 1973 AEC letter l
accompanying the Order by the Director of Regulation changing the Monti-l cello Technical Specifications to account for the r 'servative AEC Staff assumptions of fuel densification stated in Mr. D 1 P.temann's July 16, 1973 letter.
Be Monticello reactor is presently operating at full power within the constraints on local power imposed by the Order; no adjustments as to local power distribution or gross power level were required to comply with the Technical Specifications istued with this Order. Appropriate surveillance measures have been implemented to monitor core operation with respect to this Order. It is expected that full power operation within these constraints will continue for the immediate future; however, j
we anticipate that modest power reductions may be necessary to conform to these limits as the core approaches the end of the current fuel cycle.
