Dear Mr. MacDonald:
Nuclear Packaging, Inc. is pleased to submit a Safety Analysis Report for the NuPac Series A Casks.
This S.A.R.
provides a complete description of the casks and demonstrates, by comparison to similar packages previously tested and licensed, and by engineering analysis, that the casks satisfactorily withstand the transport conditions and tests for Type "A" packaging as specified in 10 CFR 71.
The NuPac Series A Casks are similar in configuration to and are, in fact, an extension of the 7 drum, 14 drum, and 50 cubic foot casks, licensed under Certificates of Compliance Numbers 9080, 9079, and 9145, respectively.
The major differ-ences appear only in dimensions and shield thicknesses ~.
This similarity allows for design efficiencies and conversely, should reduce licensing time and expense.
The design of the NuPac Series A Casks and all information embodied in the application is the property of Nuclear Packaging, Inc. and is to be considered as proprietary infor-mation.
Notice is hereby given to all those who seek access to this information that it is not to be used for any purpose which might be construed as detrimental to the interests of Nuclear Packaging, Inc.
For the reason stated above, we have placed a proprietary notice on the face of this report, and on the drawings found in Appendix 1.10.1.
However, for purposes of placing this application in the Public Document Room, you may disregard this notice.
This waiver shall not prejudice our lawful property interests in the uPac Series A Casks, but is given only to facilitate the O~
